This summer, food and wine lovers have a host of choices for culinary events that mix the finest chefs, mixologists and stunning landscapes at food festivals which also raise funds for charity. Here are some of the best:
Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation
May 21, 2-7 p.m., Montage Laguna Beach
At Montage Laguna Beach, Taste of the Nation will bring together chefs, mixologists and corporate and individual supporters to raise funds to end childhood hunger. This year’s event, hosted by Italian chef Fabio Viviani, the chef/owner of Café Firenze in Moorpark, CA, includes Chef Craig Strong of Studio, Montage Laguna Beach; Lee Smith, Executive Pastry Chef, Montage Laguna Beach; Bruce Kalman of Union Pasadena, Knead & Co. Los Angeles; Jason Neroni of Rose Cafe, Los Angeles; Eric Samaniego of Michael’s On Naples, Long Beach; Bryant Taylor of Chiana Steakhouse; Long Beach, Tin Vuong of Blackhouse Hospitality, Los Angeles & Manhattan Beach; and Dakota Weiss of Estrella, Sweetfin Poke, Los Angeles. Also expected is special guest Koire Rogers, Beverage Director of ARC Food & Libations, Restaurant Marin and The Guild Club in Costa Mesa.
Beneficiaries of this year’s event are the Community Action Partnership of Orange County and the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County.

Park City Food and Wine Classic
June 6-9, various locations in Park City, Utah
The 13th Annual Park City Food and Wine Classic includes more than 100 food artisans, wineries, breweries, distilleries, epicurean purveyors, seminars and cooking demonstrations, and locally-made products who will wine and dine guests in Park City, Utah. With over 20 different events throughout the weekend make sure to book a seminar, sign up for an outdoor outing and attend a signature event.
The opening signature event, Wine on the Mountain, takes place at Montage Deer Valley, where Executive Chef Shawn Armstrong and his culinary team will serve an array of culinary creations to sample throughout the evening.
Wine on the Mountain will host an impressive selection of domestic and international wines, premium craft beer and spirits, gourmet food purveyors, and live music. Top Chefs from the Montage collection of resorts will create culinary masterpieces for guests on the Grand Lawn and Grand Terrace, overlooking the forested valley below and providing panoramic views of pine and aspen-cloaked valleys and peaks. Ticket proceeds and auction at the event will benefit the People’s Health Clinic.
The Kapalua Wine & Food Festival
June 8-11, Kapalua Resort
This 36th annual celebration of the culinary bounty on Maui takes place at the oceanfront Kapalua Resort. Established in 1981 by the non-profit Kapalua Wine Society to “educate, initiate and foster the appreciation of fine wines and culinary products, as well as showcase the natural beauty of Kapalua Resort,” the Kapalua Wine & Food Festival provides local, national and international vendors an opportunity to showcase their products to resort visitors, Hawaii and Mainland residents, hoteliers, restaurateurs and industry insiders. The program now includes cooking demonstrations, wine and food pairings, winemakers’ dinners, a golf tournament, tennis clinic, the Kapalua wine tour and two major evening galas, the celebrated Grand Tasting with theme-inspired cuisine and wines from around the world and the spectacular Seafood Festival featuring culinary delights from Hawaii’s most notable chefs.
On June 9, the Grand Tasting – Kapalua Style, will take place at Montage Kapalua Bay from 6-9 p.m. where premium wines will be showcased with gastronomic indulgences from Kapalua Resort restaurants and friends. A walk-around tasting and evening under the stars; all on the oceanfront grounds of Montage Kapalua Bay.
