Serving Michelin-star prepared dishes July 10 through the end of September, The Restaurant at Montage Beverly Hills will transform into a South of France bistro run by two notable chefs, French-born Los Angeles chef Ludo Lefebvre and esteemed French chef, Gilles Epié. Serving classic favorites from the South of France, the Summer of Ludo & Gilles pop-up and adjacent LudoBird, grab-and-go market are Lefebvre’s specialty—he was nicknamed the “pop-up king” after completing a multi-city restaurant tour from 2007 to 2012 for “LudoBites” and his adored family of Los Angeles restaurants have received much fanfare and multiple awards.
“It is an honor to host such extraordinary culinary talent at The Restaurant,” says Rick Reiss, vice president of operations, Montage International. “We’re thrilled to welcome guests and locals to Summer of Ludo & Gilles and LudoBird. It will be a dining experience unlike anything else in Beverly Hills to experience over the summer months.”
Joining Lefebvre in The Restaurant’s kitchen will be Epié, the youngest chef to ever receive a Michelin Star, who will make his grand debut back to Beverly Hills after a 16-year hiatus from his restaurant Citrus Ètoile – Paris Champs Elysèes, to collaborate with Chef Ludo for the pop-up concept. The two accomplished chefs met when Lefebvre cooked for Epié at Mobil Travel Guide Five-Star Award winning L’Orangerie in LA, where Epié was named Best Chef in America of 1996 by Food & Wine Magazine.
“I can’t think of a better location to cook with my friend and mentor, Gilles,” Lefebvre says. “Montage Beverly Hills not only brings us both back to a beautiful space in Los Angeles, it also provides us with a canvas to create a specialized culinary experience for Angelenos this summer. I look forward to bringing the Summer of Ludo & Gilles to Montage Beverly Hills.”
Guests of the Summer of Ludo & Gilles can expect a full sensory experience inspired by the coastal cuisine in Provence with indoor/outdoor seating overlooking the Beverly Canon Garden. From the uncomplicated, fresh cuisine to the alluring sounds of French music—la musique —guests will be transported to the French Riviera. Sample dishes include fish soup provençal; authentic niçoise salad; grilled daurade, ratatouille nicoise; and a selection of house made pastas. The Summer of Ludo & Gilles beverage program will also feature a comprehensive Rosé menu with unique French producers and purveyors.
Launching in conjunction with the Summer of Ludo & Gilles pop-up, LudoBird, will feature Lefebvre’s signature fried chicken sandwiches and “The Original” Buttermilk Provencal that he first introduced at his beloved Ludo Truck. Chef de Cuisine at The Restaurant, Monica Olaes, along with the restaurant’s culinary team, will work closely with Lefebvre and Epié throughout this pop-up experience.
Summer of Ludo will be open Monday and Sunday for lunch and dinner, from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Tuesday through Saturday 12 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. LudoBird will be open for lunch and quick bites from Monday through Friday from noon to 2 p.m. (or until sold out).
