September is National Yoga Month, a time designated by the Department of Health & Human Services in 2017 to raise awareness about the health benefits of yoga and provide people with the tools they need to improve their well-being.
At Montage Hotel & Resorts, classes and events will be taking place across the month.
Soha Panah, Montage Beverly Hills Director of Catering by day and yoga expert by (very) early morning and night, leads hot yoga classes locally, led the Global Wellness Day yoga event on the Montage Terrace and teaches private and group yoga at the property. “The benefits of yoga are endless,” Panah says. “Knowing that the hotel offers yoga is special. At any point in their stay, guests can request yoga and have a total customized and private experience in our beautiful movement gym or outdoors.”
At Montage Los Cabos, there are hour-long flow yoga classes every morning at 7 a.m., where meditation and essential oils are incorporated. Hour-long power, restorative, vinyasa and Ashtanga yoga classes are also scheduled weekly. On Friday and Saturday mornings at 8:15 a.m., your favorite yoga routines are led on the water on standup paddleboards, a great combination for building better balance, coordination, endurance and body strength.
Montage Deer Valley offers vinyasa yoga three times a week and just finished the Summit Yoga Series, launched on Global Wellness Day (an annual, international initiative dedicated to living wellon June 8) for guests wanting to rejuvenate their mind, body and spirit. The 10-week series, planned again for next summer, included a weekly, 60-minute morning guided meditation and yoga session, led by one of the resort’s in-house fitness and wellness experts, on the Mountain Lawn overlooking the Wasatch Mountain Range surrounding the resort.
For a unique yoga experience, imagine doing yoga on the rocks in Arches National Park (or Canyonlands, the Grand Canyon or Yellowstone National Parks): Montage Deer Valley guests can also ask for a customizable expedition in the National Parks that includes yoga as part of the itinerary.
At Montage Palmetto Bluff, the Movement Studio yoga classes are offered twice a day, three times per week and private classes can be scheduled as well.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, Renew and Restore yoga is available at the Movement Studio at Montage Laguna Beach where guests can look out at the ocean while lengthening the body, increasing flexibility and renewing energy through long holds in relaxing stretches. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Vinyasa Flow classes are on the schedule, with vigorous, dynamic sequences linking breath and movement.
In Maui at Montage Kapalua Bay, while the fitness center is being refurbished in September, yoga and wellness classes will take place outside on the Spa Lawn. An active yoga schedule includes multiple daily classes, among them: Flowing Yin + Skin Yoga, which highlights the meridians of Traditional Chinese Medicine and how the health of these systems can affect our skin as we age; PIYO, a combination of yoga and pilates that will help get you stronger, lose weight and increase flexibility while having fun; Vin Yin Yoga which allows you to practice mindfulness in a half gentle glow, half yin yoga; Yoga of Design, a meditative movement class complemented by the wellness enhancing architecture of the resort; and Sunset Yoga, perfect for those looking to improve blood circulation, decrease stress and fatigue and relax the mind before bed.
