A Decade of Mountain Majesty

In December 2010, Montage Deer Valley opened its grand doors and ushered in a new era for the charming, historic mountain locale of Park City, Utah. Set among world-class ski runs and majestic scenery, Montage’s signature comfortable luxury lifestyle offered guests an opportunity to experience a classic mountain lodge stay with the most elite amenities and unparalleled service. Today, Montage continues to help visitors escape the stressors of daily life and reconnect with loved ones over adventurous days on the ski-in, ski-out slopes or cozy moments by the fireplace in every room.

While all Montage properties offer bespoke amenities and beautifully appointed accommodations, only Montage Deer Valley has so many supreme natural wonders at its doorstep. In honor of its momentous 10th anniversary, Montage has put together a unique one-day expedition for guests that combines all the best that Utah has to offer in an effortless package—just book, embark and enjoy.

Named the All-American Road Trip, this exclusive adventure begins with a flight in a private plane to southern Utah where you will meet your Cadillac Escalade driver who will take you on a picturesque ride along Scenic Byway 12. The stunning road stretches between Capitol Reef National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park and winds its way through the Hogsback, a part of the drive that ventures over a slender section of a mesa with deep canyons on either side. From your plush seat, you’ll learn about the rich culture of the area, which dates back thousands of years.

Next on the expedition itinerary is a singular culinary experience at Hell’s Backbone Grill & Farm, a 2017, 2018 and 2019 James Beard Award semifinalist. Here, you’ll earn the right to say you dined at one of Utah’s finest restaurants in one of America’s most remote towns, Boulder, Utah (population: 225). Meet chef/owners Jen Castle and Blake Spalding and sit down for a meal of “Four Corners” cuisine, which combines Western range and Southwestern flavors using locally sourced ingredients, most of which come from their six-acre, no-harm organic farm.

Finish your day with a tour of Bryce Canyon National Park, which delivers breathtaking views of natural geological spectacles called hoodoos. These crimson-colored, spire-shaped rock formations will spark awe as you gaze out from your luxury SUV. As the incredible highway ventures through the park, you’ll pull over to soak your feet in a remote creek and take pictures of the mesmerizing hoodoo called Thor’s Hammer. As the excursion comes to an end, you’ll reboard your private plane and relax with a glass of Champagne and bites of charcuterie as you admire the scene from the skies above. Back at Montage, room service will await you after your epic Utah adventure.

Of course, guests of Montage Deer Valley can take in this expedition, but those staying at Montage Laguna Beach and Montage Beverly Hills can arrange to embark on this experience as well.

Montage also has more expeditions being planned for this year, including a very special trip to Catalina Island and a one-of-a-kind tour of the Smoky Mountains. For more information about the All-American Road Trip or any Montage Expeditions, contact a Montage concierge.
