The Sky’s the Limit

“Our goal on the recreation side is simple—to redefine how luxury mountain living is approached.” So says Andy Damman, Corporate Director of Compass Sports & Recreation for Montage International, about the newest destination on his radar: Montage Big Sky in Montana.

Scheduled to open in late 2021, the $400 million resort is set within Big Sky’s 3,530-acre Spanish Peaks community. It will offer 150 guest rooms and suites, as well as 39 Montage Residences inspired by contemporary mountain design elements that celebrate the natural environment, including regional woods and hand-stacked stone. There will be fireplaces in the living rooms and master bedrooms, and open-concept kitchens with custom cabinetry and state-of-the-art appliances. Still, the true appeal of these Big Sky addresses will be their link to the great outdoors.

“As a resident buying into this environment, the accessibility to the offerings should inspire people to get outside and experience something new,” Damman says.

In winter, that means zipping directly into Big Sky Resort, the second-largest ski resort in the United States, with ski-in/ski-out access through a private door right near the lifts, an attentive ski valet service, and heated lockers where residents can store their gear. The resort’s location within Spanish Peaks offers proximity not only to the ski lifts and the beginners’ ski area but also to nighttime snow tubing. On-property snowshoe and Nordic ski trails add to the just-out-your-back-door winter offerings.

During the summer, you can head out on mountain-bike trails that connect to Big Sky Resort or grab your gear for private trout fishing on the property or on day trips to any of the three nearby world-renowned fly-fishing rivers. The Spanish Peaks Mountain Club’s 18-hole Tom Weiskopf–designed golf course is just steps away from Montage Big Sky. And the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park is only an hour away by car, making Montage Big Sky the ideal base camp for year-round adventures in the reserve.

Back on property, the resort will feature five dining options, a signature Spa Montage, a fitness center and indoor lap pool, an outdoor family pool and hot tubs, retail outlets and skier services, bowling lanes and a game room, Paintbox children’s programming, and underground parking. It all adds up to an endless adventure whether you’re inside or under the canopy of Montana’s Big Sky. (montageresidencesbigsky.com)
